This month's quilt art workshop is a project "Lemon Study" from Velda Newman's book "A Workshop with Velda Newman, Adding Dimension to your quilt. This will be the first time we will endeavor to venture into fabric painting.
Here is my color palette.
The pattern pieces were drawn onto freezer paper and will be placed on the backside of the fabric. The lines are drawn to be transferred to the fabric for stitching reference.
Here is the background coupled with cheesecloth. I am going to dye the cheesecloth and quilt it to the background fabric. This will be my first time attempting this technique to create texture.
Keep watching :)

Whimsicals "Village Square" quilt pattern has a makeover. . .
While at my home quilt shop, Bigfork Bay Cotton Company, I came across this adorable "Village Square" pattern by Whimsicals. I decided then and there that I needed to make it so that meant I needed to teach a class to motivate me.
Wanting to keep the class limited for summer area visitors, I created a wall hanging out of a set of the squares.
The class will teach turn-under invisible machine applique. Loving the border on the full quilt, I added it to the applique square set, making a few adjustments,
handwriting the words with brown ink.
